Senior Nursery Practitioner

Level 3 Childcare

Level 3 Elklan

Level 2 BSL

Paediatric First Aid

Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm one of the Senior Practitioners here at Alford! I joined the Mon Ami family in October 2017. Throughout my time at Mon Ami, I have mainly worked in the Toddler and Preschool Rooms and have loved every moment of it.

I hold a Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Level 1 and 2 in British Sign Language (BSL), Level 3 in Elklan (working towards Level 4) and I also have a certificate of competence in Paediatric First Aid.

I have worked in childcare for over 9 years and it has always been a passion of mine; I love having the opportunity to help shape little minds and help children to achieve their full potential. I love to see their faces when they achieve something for the first time, it’s a really rewarding career.

In my spare time, I like to enjoy time with my family and friends and love making lots of memories with my two children. I am also a really big Bake Off fan and love to experiment in the kitchen (often causing a big mess whilst doing so!). My absolute favourite animal has to be the cat, and I am sure any of the children I've cared for could tell you that!

I love working at Mon Ami and the best thing about the nursery family is how everyone works together to give the children the best start in life with amazing opportunities and experiences along the way.

Carly,

Nursery Practitioner

Level 3 Children's Development

Paediatric First Aid

Hi, my name is Carly! I’m Level 3 qualified in Children’s Development which I studied through college, as well as being Paediatric First Aid trained.

I’ve been part of the Mon Ami team since 2019, when I initially started out as a student doing work experience. Since then I have joined the team and worked my way up to being a Senior Nursery Practitioner.

Throughout my time here, I have been in the Baby Room and for the past 3 years, I have been the Baby Room Leader! I have really enjoyed helping the children learn about themselves through different play experiences. However, now I am the Toddler Room Leader and I am thoroughly enjoying seeing the differences between each age range and how differently they explore activities and explore the world!

I feel very passionate about giving each child the best opportunities for them to learn through their own experiences as these first few years are critical for their development, which is why I think it is so important to ensure that we provide a range of different opportunities to support each child with their individual needs. I also think it's so important to form bonds with both children and parents and to communicate any interests or avenues that will enhance their learning. Working with children is one of the most rewarding jobs. It is such a pleasure to be a part of the children's learning journeys, watching as each child is shaped into their own person!

Sharon,

Deputy Manager

Level 3 Childcare

Paediatric First Aid

Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene

Hi, my name is Sharon and I am the Deputy Manager at Mon Ami Alford!

I studied my Level 3 Childcare qualification at Grimsby Institute whilst attending Mon Ami as a student on placement, working across all of the rooms. I completed my qualification in June 2012 and joined the Mon Ami family as a Nursery Practitioner, and have been here since! After a few years, I became Preschool Room Leader and worked my way up to Deputy Manager. I worked in the Preschool Room from June 2012 up until the end of 2023. I am now the Room Leader of the Baby Room as well as being Deputy.

I have a Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification as well as Paediatric First Aid. I regularly undertake Safeguarding training to supplement my role.

I am now a new Mummy to a beautiful baby girl, so my life has changed massively recently! Working at Mon Ami has given me so much confidence been a first-time mum as I have been able to use all of the knowledge and experience I have learnt along the way.

I love spending time with my baby and partner and just making as many memories to last a lifetime as we can. I enjoy listening to music, going shopping and spending quality time with my family and close friends.

I love working at Mon Ami as it is a very homely, caring and safe environment with lots of diverse opportunities for all of the children to thrive to their fullest. It is very rewarding knowing I have been a part of the children's fundamental first few years in life and having a positive impact on their growth and development. I also love getting to know all of the parents and careers and feel that having a good professional relationship with them also is very important.

Level 2 Children's Development

Paediatric First Aid

Hi, my name's Denise and I’m 20 years old! I’m Level 2 qualified in Children’s Development, as well as being Paediatric First Aid trained and I'm currently completing my Level 3 with Mon Ami.

I’ve been with Mon Ami since early 2022. When I first started at Mon Ami, I worked in the Baby Room and was in there for just over a year. I then moved into the Toddler Room and that is where I am currently based!

I've lived in Alford since I was six months old. I went to Alford primary school, then studied at John Spendluffe and now work at Mon Ami! I started my training while at school in 2018, working towards my Level 2 in Children’s development and receiving a Merit. Unfortunately, I left school early March 2020 due to covid and lockdown! So, I swiftly moved on to college. I ventured out nearly 90 miles away to go to Loughborough College where I studied Beauty. I soon realised this wasn’t what I wanted to do and managed to work in Leicester City centre at a nursery as an apprentice. I worked in the Preschool Room there and completed lots of different courses including one focusing on communication with 2 to 3 year olds. After nearly a year, I moved back to Lincolnshire and have been at Mon Ami ever since!

I have many different hobbies but I’ve always loved animals. My dad is a retired jockey and my mum worked on lots of different raceyards so I’ve always grown up around horses, sitting on my first horse at just a few days old! When I was younger I never liked horses, believe it or not, but I then grew a love for them and volunteered at an animal farm, becoming a groom/stable hand at 13! And helped to look after lots of different animals ranging from guinea pigs to shetland ponies. I've also always loved gymnastics and have loved it since a young age. I began to train as a gymnastics coach and worked alongside many of my trainers at my club.

Every child deserves the best possible start in life. That’s why I think it’s so important to form bonds with not only the children but the parents to give the children the best opportunity and experiences. It is amazing to watch the children grow as they move from room to room. It is always so sad when the children leave us to go to big school. It is an honour to watch them grow throughout their time at Mon Ami and continue in their journeys!

Verity,

Nursery Practitioner

Level 3

Paediatric First Aid

Hi, I’m Verity and I joined the Mon Ami Family in June 2023.

I completed 2 years of college at Grimsby Institute and now hold a Level 3 qualification and am Paediatric First Aid trained.

I am based in the Baby Room and enjoy working in every room. I started Mon Ami as a college student in September 2022, working Monday to Friday every other week. I got lots of experience from this and spent most of my time in the Preschool Room and Toddler Room. I enjoyed making relationships with the children and carrying out activities. I then applied for a job and got it! To start with, I helped out in each of the rooms and enjoyed making relationships and getting to know the parents too.

I currently still live at home with my mum and dad and most of my siblings. My youngest sibling is 1 and the other is 2. I love spending any free time I get with them, watching their personalities grow and helping them to learn new skills. I have lived in Alford my whole life, but I like to explore new places and go on trips over the weekends.

What I love about working at Mon Ami is how homely the rooms are to help the children feel most comfortable to be themselves. I absolutely love messy play; painting, shaving foam, sand and the mud kitchen. I think every child deserves the best start to their childhood and the best opportunities to grow into their own little person.

Steph,

Hi, I'm Steph! I am originally from a little town called Battle, in the South East and decided to move to Alford in July 2022. I joined the Mon Ami family in October 2022! I am currently working towards my Level 3 in Early Years Education.

Before working for Mon Ami, I worked for Butlins as a Sports Coach and PGL as an Activity Instructor and Group Leader working alongside children and adults aged anywhere from 4 years upwards, with various backgrounds and additional needs, encouraging and creating experiences they wouldn't normally be able to have.

In my spare time, I enjoy watching football, F1 and rugby, building Lego and going for walks.

I really enjoy creating and organising fun activities for the children to play with and explore, encouraging the children to take part in things they perhaps wouldn't normally take part in. The most rewarding part of my job is watching children grow and change with each step in their life they take!
